Cause

The merchant is enrolled in the VFMP, and the issuer is instructed to dispute the transaction if they havenโ€™t filed a chargeback under a different reason code.

Response

Cardholders and issuers have 120 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.
Merchants have 20 days to respond to the claim in dispute.

Steps to Prevention

  • Always get authorization for each transaction.
  • Only process the authorized amount. For extra amounts, run a second transaction.
