The Visa Fraud Monitoring Program (VFMP) marked the transaction as fraudulent.
Cause
The merchant is enrolled in the VFMP, and the issuer is instructed to dispute the transaction if they haven’t filed a chargeback under a different reason code.
Response
Cardholders and issuers have 120 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.
Merchants have 20 days to respond to the claim in dispute.
Steps to Prevention
Always get authorization for each transaction.
Only process the authorized amount. For extra amounts, run a second transaction.
