Steps to Prevention

Merchants should:

  • Stick to MasterCard rules, regulations, and recommendations of best practices.
  • Never exceed the 20% gratuity cap. If you do, seek additional authorization approval.
  • Obtain authorization approval before processing transactions.
  • Always get authorization before they process a transaction below the set limits.
