Processing Error

Claim

The cardholder claims they received a voided transaction or credit receipt that wasn’t processed.

Cause

  • The merchant tried sending multiple batches at the same time. 
  • The same transaction has multiple receipts. 
  • The transaction is in duplicates in the merchant’s system. 
  • The transaction was processed but the cardholder still paid for the same merchandise through other methods.

Response

Cardholders and issuers have no limit to the number of days they have to to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.

Merchants have 20 days to respond to the claim in dispute.

Steps to Prevention

  • Always review the transaction before making a deposit.
  • Only submit a single batch at a time. 
  • Void and credit any duplicate transaction. 
  • Train your staff on how to handle credits.
