Claim

The cardholder paid for merchandise or service with alternative forms of payment, but their card was still charged.

Cause

The merchant forgot to void multiple transactions.

Response

Cardholders and issuers have 120 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.

Merchants have 30 days to respond to the claim in dispute.

Steps to Prevention

  • Always double-check the transaction amounts, calculations, and the type of payment before you process a transaction.
  • If a customer decides to use an alternate mode of payment, void the previous transaction.
