Cause

The merchant: 

  • Sent a batch of transactions more than once.
  • Deposited the sales and merchant copy.
  • Created multiple sales receipts for one transaction.
  • Deposited the receipt with different acquirers.
  • Processed one transaction multiple times.

Response

Cardholders and issuers have 90 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.
Merchants have 45 days to respond to the claim in dispute.

Steps to Prevention

  • Ensure you submit only one batch.
  • Review your receipts before you deposit.
  • Ensure you credit duplicate transactions.
