Cause

The merchant 

  • Failed to void multiple transactions. 
  • Processed a transaction, but the cardholder paid for the same product or service by other means.

Response

Cardholders and issuers have 120 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.
Merchants have 20 days to respond to the claim in dispute.

Steps to Prevention

  • Remember to void a transaction if a customer uses an alternative payment method.
  • Always double-check transaction amounts before completing the payment.
