The merchant didn’t process the transaction within the stipulated timelines, and the account is closed.
The merchant posted the transaction 181 days after the transaction date.
Response
Cardholders and issuers have no limit to the number of days they have to to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.
Merchants have 20 days to respond to the claim in dispute.
Steps to Prevention
Deposit the order receipt with the acquirer as soon as possible (on the transaction date if possible).
Complete the payment batches fast.
Process all transactions within 180 days of the transaction.
If you feel a customer might be caught off-guard by the transaction’s timing, inform them well in advance to give them sufficient time to switch to an alternate payment method.
