The cardholder claims the merchant billed them for a lodging reservation that they had canceled. Or they didnโ€™t receive a credit for a CARDeposit charge. A CARDeposit is a provision that allows merchants to submit charges for deposits provided the merchant follows the program rules.

Cause

The cardholder received a charge for lodging services that they had already canceled.

Response

Cardholders and issuers have no limit to the number of days they have to to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.
Merchants have 20 days to respond to the claim in dispute.

Steps to Prevention

  • Attend to qualified cancelation requests fast.
  • Explain the no-show or cancelation policy clearly and ensure the cardholder agrees to your policy terms before making a reservation.
  • Log all cancelations and confirmation numbers as needed by CARDeposit programs.
