Claim

The ATM didn’t disburse the full cash withdrawn by the cardholder.

Cause

Operating a faulty ATM.

Response

Cardholders and issuers have 120 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.

Merchants have 30 days to respond to the claim in dispute.

Steps to Prevention

  • Adjust any ATM that’s out of balance immediately.
  • Reconcile ATM accounts in a timely fashion.
  • In case of an issue, process reversals or credits immediately.
