Claim

The cardholder claims the ATM dispensed a different amount from what they were actually charged or the ATM withdrawal was debited several times.

Cause

Hardware or software issues with an ATM.

Response

Cardholders and issuers have 90 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.

Merchants have 45 days to respond to the claim in dispute.

Steps to Prevention

  • Always reconcile your ATMs in good time.
  • Report faulty ATMs.
