Cause
The cardholder may have forgotten they made multiple purchases. Or they are aware of their participation but deliberately deny it.
The merchant made a processing error.
The merchant didn't refund or void multiple transactions.
Response
Cardholders and issuers have 120 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.
Merchants have 45 days to respond to the claim in dispute.
Steps to Prevention
Credit or reverse a transaction immediately after you notice you've made a duplicate transaction.
