Claim

The cardholder claims they only authorized one transaction but found multiple transactions they didn't authorize after the initial valid transaction.

Cause

The merchant processed other transactions without the knowledge of the cardholder.

Response

Cardholders and issuers have 120 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.

Merchants have 45 days to respond to the claim in dispute.

Steps to Prevention

  • Always explain to the customer the terms and conditions before processing a transaction
  • Don't add tips or extra charges to a bill without cardholder knowledge and consent.
