Claim

The cardholder claims the merchant delivered counterfeit products.

Cause

The merchant shipped merchandise that wasn't what they claimed to be.

Response

Cardholders and issuers have 120 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.

Merchants have 45 days to respond to the claim in dispute.

Steps to Prevention

Merchants should:

  • Ensure their merchandise description is accurate.
  • Ensure the inventory is what they claim.
  • Procure and sell genuine products only.

Notes

Cardholder disputes can be claimed 120 days from the transaction date or date of receipt of service or merchandise.
