Claim

The merchant didn’t request authorization for the transaction. So they didn’t know the account number was listed in the Card Recovery Bulletin (CRB) and that they should have terminated the transaction.

Cause

The merchant didn’t check the CRB on the date of the transaction.

Response

Cardholders and issuers have 75 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.

Merchants have 20 days to respond to the claim in dispute.

Steps to Prevention

  • Always check the CRB if the transaction is below the floor limit.
  • Request authorization before you process a transaction amount above your floor limit.
