Claim

The merchant received a declined or Pick Up Card authorization response but decided to complete the transaction.

Cause

  • The merchant proceeded to process a transaction after a card pickup or a declined response.
  • The merchant didn’t request authorization.

Response

Cardholders and issuers have 75 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.

Merchants have 20 days to respond to the claim in dispute.

Steps to Prevention

  • Always authorize Visa transactions according to their rules.
  • Train the staff on the correct procedures for handling terminal problems.
