Claim
The OCT (Original Credit Transaction) wasn’t processed and the merchant receives the money back from the cardholder. This is a reverse chargeback; however, it is considered like a chargeback for the purpose of determining fees and the merchant’s chargeback ratio.
Cause
It could be the cardholder doesn’t accept original credit transactions, or the issuer doesn’t accept OCTs on some card types because of local laws.
Response
Cardholders and issuers have 120 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.
Merchants have 20 days to respond to the claim in dispute.
Steps to Prevention
Be up to date with the usage laws in the areas you operate in.
