Cause
The transaction currency is different from what the merchant sends to Mastercard.
The cardholder didn’t know or agree to a dynamic currency conversion.
Response
Cardholders and issuers have 90 days to file a dispute related to the claim against the merchant.
Merchants have 45 days to respond to the claim in dispute.
Steps to Prevention
Always inform the cardholder of applicable fees and the dynamic currency conversion.
Present the cardholder with the opportunity to transact in their local currency.
Train your staff on the correct procedures for handling transactions in different currencies.
